In Their Own Words

GR

Geoffrey Roberts

British expat, Bangkok

"I attended the Community Seminar after a friend recommended it. I didn't have any clear idea of what Thailand's pension system involved, and I left with a much better sense of where to look and who to contact. The facilitator was patient with questions and never once tried to steer us toward any particular path."

Wiphada Prakobsuk

HR Manager, Bangkok

"We booked the Pension Workshop for a group of fifteen employees approaching retirement. The content was well-organised and clearly written for people without specialist knowledge. A couple of participants felt the section on provident fund structures could have gone deeper, but overall it gave the group a solid foundation. We'd likely book the follow-on session as well."

Retired, Singapore national in Bangkok

"I went to the Pre-Retirement Planning Session six months before I stopped working. It wasn't what I expected — I thought it would be a financial talk, but it was more reflective than that. The budget exercises helped me think through what I actually valued, rather than just giving me numbers to aim at. I found that quite useful."

Prajak Kongkham

Retiree, Bangkok

"My wife and I attended the Community Seminar together. The session covered the main questions we had about the Social Security Office and how benefits are generally structured for employees who've worked many years. We were given a list of official contacts to follow up with — that handout alone was worth attending for."

German expat, Sukhumvit area

"As someone who has lived in Bangkok for many years and always found the pension framework somewhat opaque, the workshop gave me a lot more clarity. The facilitator was clear about what the session could and couldn't cover, which I actually appreciated — it meant I trusted the information more."

Thanarat Charoenwong

Community coordinator, Silom

"I organise events for a retiree group of about forty members. We've now booked Provido twice — once for the Community Seminar and once for the Pre-Retirement session. The booking process was very straightforward. They came to our venue both times and brought all the materials. Our members were very positive about both sessions."

Case Studies

A Closer Look at Three Groups

These accounts describe the experience of groups who came to Provido with different starting points and what they took away.

Case Study 1 · Community Seminar

Starting Point

A retiree association in Phra Khanong had noticed that many members felt uncertain about what official bodies were responsible for retirement-related queries in Thailand. Several had received conflicting information from informal sources.

What Happened

The association booked a Community Information Seminar for 22 members. Provido visited their regular meeting venue and led a 90-minute session covering common areas of confusion and directing participants to the relevant official bodies.

What Changed

Post-session feedback showed 21 of 22 members felt clearer on which official bodies to contact for their circumstances. The group subsequently booked the Pension Workshop for a subset of members who wanted more structural detail.

"The session clarified something that had genuinely been confusing for our group for a long time." — Association Coordinator

Case Study 2 · Pension Workshop

Starting Point

An HR department at a Bangkok-based company was preparing twelve employees for transition to retirement over the following two years. The team wanted a structured overview of the Thai pension framework to help staff understand the general landscape before individual consultations.

What Happened

The Pension System Information Workshop was delivered at the company's Sathorn office over one morning. The facilitator covered the Social Security Office structure, provident fund basics, and the Government Pension Fund framework in plain language.

What Changed

The HR manager reported that employees arrived at subsequent one-on-one meetings with their own accountants and HR representatives far better prepared — asking more specific, relevant questions than had been typical in previous cohorts.

"It gave our staff a working vocabulary for the conversations they needed to have with their own advisers." — HR Director

Case Study 3 · Pre-Retirement Session

Starting Point

A group of eight individuals — a mix of Thai nationals and long-term expats — were each within three years of retirement and found themselves unprepared for the more personal aspects of the transition: not the paperwork, but the lifestyle and timing considerations.

What Happened

The Pre-Retirement Planning Session was run as a half-day workshop at the Provido office. Participants worked through lifestyle reflection prompts, discussed budget awareness concepts in general terms, and explored common timeline considerations as a group.

What Changed

Seven of the eight participants reported that the session helped them identify specific areas where they wanted to seek further information or professional input — giving them a clearer list of priorities rather than a general sense of uncertainty.

"I left with a short list of things I actually needed to look into, rather than that vague unease I'd had for months." — Participant
